On the morning of August 31st, the International Academic Seminar titled "Localization and Standardization: A New Start for Oral History in China" was held in the lecture hall on the first floor of the main building of Heilongjiang University. The conference was hosted by the Institute of Historical Theory of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and the Oral History Professional Committee of theSociety of Chinese Modern Culture (SCMC). It was undertaken by the School of History, Culture, and Tourism, Heilongjiang University; the Zuo Yuhe Studio of the Chinese Academy of History; and the editorial department of Seeking Truth. Xia Chuntao,director of the Oral History Professional Committee ofthe SCMC anddirector of the Institute of Modern History of theCASS; Zuo Yuhe, deputy director of the Institute of Historical Theory of theCASS; Li Fengfei, chairman oftheAssociation of Heilongjiang Historians; Wang Jingbo, president of Heilongjiang University, as well as more than 100 experts, scholars and representatives of teachers and students from the School of History, Culture and Tourism participated in the conference. The opening ceremony was presided over by Li Junming,deputysecretary of theCPC Committee of Heilongjiang University.

Wang Jingbo introduced the development process and discipline construction of Heilongjiang University. She said, “The university has always adhered to the spirit of self-improvement and hard work, and we hope to establish long-term contacts with experts and create a platform for academic exchanges.”

Xia Chuntao outlined the development and significant achievements of the Oral History Professional Committee of the SCMC, offering suggestions such as“emphasizing the preservation of materials, adhering to a correct view of history, maintaining the subjectivity of Oral History Research, and keeping pace with new technologies.”

Zuo Yuhe reviewed the founding and current status of the Institute of Historical Theory of theCASS. Li Fengfei introduced the rich historical and cultural heritage of Heilongjiang Province, as well as its significant position and influence throughout the development of Chinese history.

During the conference, Xia Chuntao and Li Fengfei jointly unveiled the plaque for the Oral History Professional Committee oftheAssociation of Heilongjiang Historians.

Wang Jingbo presented a donation certificate to Fang Bo,divisionchief of the Provincial Information Department of the Party History and Local Chronicles Research Office of the CPC Heilongjiang Provincial Committee.

The keynote speeches were chaired by Xu Shuitao,formervicedirector andeditor of The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Daily（CPPCC Daily） andvicedirector of the Oral History Professional Committee of theSCMC. Speakers included Zuo Yuhe,deputydirector of the Institute of Historical Theory of theCASS; Masaba Kimihiko,foreignprofessor at Beijing Foreign Studies University; Zhou Xinguo,professor at Yangzhou University; Zhou Yiping,professor at the School of Marxism, Yangzhou University; Yao Li,researcher at the Institute of Contemporary China Studies oftheCASS; Xiong Weimin,distinguishedprofessor at University of Science and Technology Beijing; and Yu Xuebin,professor at the School of History, Culture, and Tourism, Heilongjiang University, each of them presenting keynote speeches on Oral History from various perspectives.
